Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control Updates Sanctions Lists
The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has announced several updates to its sanctions lists. On September 23, OFAC made an administrative correction to the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) entry for Cuba-based Centro de Investigacion y Desarrollo de Armamento de Infanteria (CIDAI), changing an address detail from '8 ½' to '8 1/2' without imposing new sanctions. Additionally, OFAC removed Francois Olenga, a former Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) military official, and Safari Club from the SDN List under its Democratic Republic of the Congo sanctions program. These actions reflect OFAC's ongoing efforts to maintain and update its sanctions programs, which are designed to target individuals and entities involved in activities that threaten U.S. national security or foreign policy interests. The updates ensure the accuracy and relevance of the sanctions lists.
