Early Peanut Consumption Reduces Allergy Risk in High-Risk Infants, Studies Show
Recent research, including the LEAP (Learning Early About Peanut Allergy) and EAT (Enquiring About Tolerance) studies, has significantly advanced the understanding of food allergy prevention. These studies, co-authored by Professor Helen Brough, demonstrate that early and regular consumption of peanuts in infants identified as high-risk substantially decreases their likelihood of developing a peanut allergy. The EAT study further supported the benefits of introducing multiple allergenic foods during early infancy. These findings have been instrumental in reshaping infant feeding guidelines both in the UK and internationally.
