Sydney Airport Reports Record Q1 Passenger Growth Amidst Geopolitical Uncertainty
Sydney Airport has announced its strongest first quarter for international travel, with 4.57 million passengers, marking a 5.8% increase. The total passenger volume, including domestic and international travelers, rose by 3.6% compared to Q1 2025, reaching 10.78 million. This growth is attributed to increased airline capacity and sustained demand across the Asia-Pacific and major long-haul markets, despite geopolitical uncertainties in the Middle East. New Zealand and China emerged as the largest international markets, with passenger volumes increasing by 13.5% and 14.0%, respectively. The airport's operational performance improved, with faster security and immigration processing times. Infrastructure upgrades, including new security lanes and self-service kiosks, have been implemented to enhance passenger experience.
