BYD Launches All-Electric K-Car Racco in Japan, Challenging Local Automakers
BYD has launched the Racco, an all-electric K-Car, in Japan, targeting the country's significant K-Car market, which accounts for nearly 40% of new vehicle sales. The Racco is priced starting at 2.145 million yen ($13,100), with government subsidies bringing the cost below 2 million yen. The vehicle offers a range of 210 kilometers for the entry-level model and up to 320 kilometers for higher-spec versions. BYD aims to compete with established Japanese automakers like Toyota, Honda, and Nissan by offering features such as power sliding doors and a 10.1-inch center screen.
