Kentucky Expands African American Heritage Trail to Honor Black History
Kentucky has announced the expansion of its African American Heritage Trail, adding ten new sites to celebrate the contributions of African Americans to the state and the nation. The trail, initially launched in June 2025, now includes over 60 historic sites. Governor Andy Beshear emphasized the importance of recognizing Black history as an integral part of American history. The expansion is part of Kentucky's efforts to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States. New additions to the trail include the Charles Young Center in Lexington and the Elisha Green Memorial in Maysville, honoring significant figures in Black history.
