University of Missouri Study Links Consistent Daily Routine to Reduced Pain and Depression
A study conducted by the University of Missouri has found that maintaining a consistent daily routine can significantly reduce pain and depressive symptoms. The research, published in the Journal of Behavioral Medicine, involved 67 adults with an average age of 68.3, including both individuals with insomnia and good sleepers. Participants recorded the timing of daily activities such as waking up, eating, and socializing over a week. The study revealed that those with regular daily schedules reported less pain, fewer depressive symptoms, and a lower body mass index (BMI), regardless of their insomnia status. The findings suggest that a predictable routine helps synchronize the body's internal clocks, which can improve overall health outcomes.
