Border Patrol Supervisor Accused of Swapping Government Computer Parts for Newegg Trade-Ins
Terry Liu, a 39-year-old supervisor at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) port of entry in Calais, Maine, has been arrested and charged with theft and destruction of government property. Liu is accused of illegally replacing computer parts in CBP systems with older models and using the original, newer components for Newegg's trade-in program. An affidavit by FBI special agent Christopher White states that Liu admitted to these actions, claiming he was frustrated with the slow pace of IT repairs within CBP. The investigation began in January after CBP's Office of Professional Standards received reports of unauthorized modifications.
