Brooklyn's Bergen and Dean Streets to Become Bike Boulevards, Enhancing Cyclist Safety
Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced plans to transform Bergen and Dean Streets in Brooklyn into 'bike boulevards' as part of a broader initiative to improve cycling infrastructure. The project aims to prioritize cyclists and pedestrians while maintaining local vehicle access. The redesign will include features such as protected bike lanes, sidewalk extensions, and traffic-calming measures. The Department of Transportation is currently seeking public feedback through an online portal, with design plans expected later this year.
