U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve Warn Bank CEOs of Cyber Risks from Anthropic's AI Model
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell held a meeting with bank CEOs to discuss the cyber risks associated with Anthropic's new AI model, Mythos. The meeting, confirmed by White House national economic adviser Kevin Hassett, aimed to ensure that banks are aware of the potential cybersecurity threats posed by the model. Mythos, capable of identifying vulnerabilities in major operating systems and web browsers, has raised concerns about its offensive and defensive cyber capabilities. The meeting was part of ongoing discussions between Anthropic and U.S. government officials to address these risks.
