MHRA Launches Project to Enhance Patient Information Delivery
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has initiated the Improving Patient Information (IPI) project, a three-year program aimed at enhancing how information about medicines is delivered to patients. This initiative seeks to make patient information clearer, more accessible, and better suited to contemporary lifestyles. The project involves collaboration with patients, pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and industry partners to explore new methods of sharing information. The MHRA's research indicates that while some patients still value traditional paper leaflets for their familiarity, there is a growing demand for digital solutions such as QR codes and online platforms. These digital methods could provide immediate access to updated safety information and allow for more personalized communication, addressing the limitations of paper-based systems.
