European Commission Enforces AI Act with New Transparency Rules
Starting August 2, 2026, the European Commission will enforce the AI Act, introducing new transparency requirements for AI systems. These rules mandate that chatbots and interactive AI systems must inform users they are interacting with AI, not humans. Additionally, AI-generated or altered content, including deepfakes, must be labeled and carry machine-readable marks for easier detection. The measures aim to reduce deception and manipulation, helping users make informed choices while providing businesses with clear obligations for compliance. Over 180 organizations have signed the Code of Practice on transparency of AI-generated content, operationalizing these rules.
