Agent2Agent (A2A) Standard Joins Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) to Enhance Inter-Agent Communication
Agent2Agent (A2A), an open standard for inter-agent communication, has officially joined the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) as a hosted project. A2A defines how AI agents can discover each other, delegate tasks, and exchange work seamlessly, regardless of their underlying framework or vendor. This initiative aims to solve the problem of interoperability between multi-agent systems, which previously required custom integration code for each pairing. Backed by over 150 organizations, A2A is already in production across various sectors, including supply chain, financial services, and mobile platforms at an OS scale. Huawei has standardized A2A for communication between its OS-level AI assistant, Celia, and in-app agents on HarmonyOS, while Tencent's WeChat is integrating with Android OEM assistants via A2A for messages, voice, and video calls.
