Gallup Poll Reveals Growing American Concerns Over AI Impact
A recent Gallup poll indicates that Americans are increasingly concerned about the impact of artificial intelligence, with 39% expecting AI to cause more harm than good. This sentiment has grown from 31% in previous years, particularly among younger adults aged 18-29, where 47% share this view. Despite a rise in familiarity with AI, many Americans focus on its negative aspects, such as job displacement and energy consumption. Anton Dahbura, an AI expert, suggests that public perception is influenced by limited exposure to AI's broader benefits, such as advancements in drug discovery and energy efficiency. The poll also highlights a lack of trust in businesses to use AI responsibly, with only 27% expressing confidence in corporate accountability.
