Paterson Installs Solar-Powered LED Stop Signs to Enhance Pedestrian Safety at 200 Intersections
The city of Paterson has implemented a new safety initiative by installing solar-powered flashing LED stop signs at over 200 intersections. This project, which has been rolled out over the past few months, aims to significantly boost visibility for motorists and protect pedestrians, thereby reducing crashes and accidents. Mayor Andre Sayegh emphasized the goal of making these stop signs impossible for drivers to miss, comparing their intended prominence to the 'golden arches at McDonald's.' The initiative is funded by the Paterson Urban Enterprise Zone program and specifically targets high-pedestrian traffic areas, including locations frequented by families, children, and seniors.
