Zikaron BaSalon Expands Global Holocaust Remembrance Amid Rising Antisemitism
Zikaron BaSalon, an initiative founded in Israel, is expanding its global reach to address the rising tide of antisemitism and ensure Holocaust remembrance remains a vital part of Jewish community life. The initiative organizes intimate gatherings in homes, community centers, and online spaces where Holocaust survivors, descendants, and community members share testimonies and discuss the significance of Holocaust memory today. This year, the gatherings are particularly poignant as Jewish communities worldwide face increased antisemitic incidents and a growing sense of vulnerability. In the UK, for example, gatherings are being held in cities like London and Manchester, emphasizing the importance of communal resilience and identity. The initiative also extends to campuses, where Jewish and Israeli students confront hostility and exclusion, providing them a space to strengthen their identity and insist on the importance of remembrance.
