AUKUS Partners Announce Advancements in Submarine and UUV Programs
The AUKUS partnership, comprising Australia, the UK, and the US, has announced significant advancements in their submarine and unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) programs. At the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, the partners confirmed plans to operationalize the Submarine Rotational Force-West (SRF-West) by 2027, which will support the delivery of three second-hand Virginia-class nuclear-powered submarines to Australia. Additionally, the first project under Pillar 2 aims to develop payloads and enabling systems for UUVs, with initial deliveries expected from 2027.
