Nepal and South Korea Sign $11.8 Million Grant Agreement to Enhance Agriculture and Legal Services
The governments of Nepal and the Republic of Korea have signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) totaling $11.8 million in grant assistance. These agreements aim to strengthen agricultural value chains and improve public access to legal information services in Nepal. The signing took place at the Ministry of Finance in Kathmandu, with Ghanshyam Upadhyaya, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, and Taeyoung Park, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, officiating the event. The projects will be implemented through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and relevant partner institutions. The larger initiative, titled 'Value Chain Development for Fruits and Vegetables Project, Phase II in Nepal,' is allocated $10 million and will run from 2025 to 2031. It aims to increase the incomes of smallholder farmers in six districts of Lumbini Province by enhancing agricultural value chains.
