Gwen Singleton, Veteran Television Journalist and Researcher, Dies at 84
Gwen Singleton, a distinguished television journalist and researcher who dedicated over three decades to Yorkshire Television (YTV), has passed away at the age of 84. Singleton made significant contributions to YTV's current affairs, science, and education programs. She began her television career in the early 1970s as a reporter for YTV’s 'Calendar' program, quickly earning respect in a male-dominated field despite being initially underestimated. Notably, she secured an important interview with Leeds United manager Don Revie. Later, she transitioned to a research role, working on programs such as the science show 'Don’t Ask Me' and the educational history series 'How We Used to Live.' Born in Naunton Beauchamp, Worcestershire, Singleton was the youngest of five children.
