Hawaii Braces for Possible Tropical Storm Next Week
Meteorologists are tracking a tropical disturbance in the eastern Pacific that could develop between August 10–12 and approach Hawaii around August 14–15. If the system strengthens into a tropical storm or hurricane, it could bring heavy rain, flash flooding, rough surf, dangerous seas, and damaging winds. Even without becoming a named storm, the disturbance may increase trade winds and thunderstorms. The growing El Niño continues to fuel an active Pacific hurricane season, raising the likelihood of tropical development.
