Researchers have developed the BioflexBot, a novel robot that mimics and exceeds the core motions of the human hand using a simple design. Unlike traditional robotic hands that replicate the complex anatomy of human hands, the BioflexBot uses a coiled spring, constraining shell, and basic pneumatic system to perform tasks. This design allows the BioflexBot to pinch, rotate, hook, and grasp objects with precision and a wide range of mobility. The robot has demonstrated its ability to perform delicate tasks, such as manipulating an acupuncture needle and transporting liquids, as well as rotating objects and grasping items of various sizes.
