Police Respond to Large Crowd at Troy's Somerset Mall During Swatch Watch Release
A significant crowd gathered at Troy's Somerset Collection early Saturday morning for the release of the Royal Pop pocket watch, a collaboration between Swatch and luxury brand Audemars Piguet. The event attracted hundreds of people, prompting a response from multiple police agencies. The watches, priced between $400 and $420, were highly anticipated, leading to a large turnout. The Troy Police Department was called around 4:30 a.m. to manage the situation. Despite the large crowd, the situation was controlled without any major incidents. However, two individuals received trespassing citations for refusing to leave when asked by mall security. Due to safety concerns, Swatch decided to cancel the release event and closed the Troy store, along with eight other locations, for the rest of the day.
