Study Links Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Syndrome to Increased Cancer Risk
A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Tokyo has identified a significant link between cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome (CKM syndrome) and an increased risk of cancer. CKM syndrome encompasses a range of interconnected health conditions, including heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, obesity, and diabetes. The study analyzed nearly 1.4 million adults, comparing those with no risk factors for CKM syndrome to individuals with early- and late-stage CKM syndrome. Findings revealed that later stages of CKM syndrome were associated with a 25-30% higher risk of cancer. The research highlights the complex interplay between cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic systems, where dysfunction in one area can exacerbate issues in others, potentially leading to cancer.
