Hondius Cruise Ship Set to Resume Arctic Expeditions After Hantavirus Outbreak
The Hondius cruise ship, operated by Oceanwide Expeditions, is preparing to resume service after a hantavirus outbreak earlier this year. Dutch health authorities have confirmed that the ship has undergone thorough cleaning and disinfection, allowing it to return to service. The outbreak, which occurred in late April and early May, was linked to passengers who had traveled in South America. The ship has been docked in Rotterdam for resupply and maintenance, with plans to depart for the Svalbard region on June 6. The first Arctic cruise is scheduled to begin on June 13, departing from Longyearbyen.
