Early Emergence of Corn Diseases Raises Concerns for U.S. Farmers
Corn diseases, including tar spot and southern rust, have emerged earlier than usual this year, raising concerns among farmers. According to Lily Ziehmer, a technical service manager, the impact of these diseases is currently limited by higher temperatures, but the situation could change depending on weather patterns. Other consistent diseases like northern corn leaf blight and gray leaf spot are also present. The forecast for the coming weeks, which includes above-normal temperatures and potential precipitation, will be crucial in determining the severity of disease pressure on corn production.
