John Templeton Foundation Explores the Nature of Intelligence with New Initiative
The John Templeton Foundation (JTF) has launched a new initiative called the Future of Intelligence, which aims to explore the nature, purpose, and future of intelligence. This initiative is part of JTF's strategic ventures, which are coordinated, time-bound portfolios of grants that bring together multiple funding areas around a major topic of interest. The Future of Intelligence will award over $60 million across six funding areas, focusing on understanding intelligence in various forms, including artificial intelligence, plant intelligence, and collective intelligence in human societies. JTF President Timothy Dalrymple emphasizes the importance of this initiative in broadening the understanding of intelligence beyond current AI models.
