Father Drowns Saving Children from Rip Current in Florida
Ryan Jennings, a father of three from Maine, tragically drowned while saving his children from a rip current during a family vacation in Florida. The incident occurred at Juno Beach, where Jennings, his 12-year-old son, and 9-year-old daughter were caught in the dangerous current. Despite the perilous conditions, Jennings managed to push his son towards the shore and held his daughter above the water, ensuring their safety. Unfortunately, Jennings was unconscious when brought to shore and later pronounced dead at Jupiter Medical Center. The family was swimming in an unguarded area, and the conditions were noted to be consistent with rip current activity. This incident highlights the dangers of rip currents, which are responsible for approximately 100 deaths annually in the U.S.
