Algerian writer Said Khatibi has been awarded the 2026 International Prize for Arabic Fiction for his novel 'Swimming Against the Tide.' The novel, published by Hachette Antoine, was selected from 137 submissions as the best Arabic novel published between July 2024 and June 2025. The story follows two parallel narratives in Algiers, exploring themes of historical and personal conflict. The prize, sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, aims to promote Arabic literature globally by supporting the translation and publication of winning works.
