UK Health Agency Issues Heat Alerts as Temperatures Soar to 35°C
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued amber heat-health alerts for several regions in England, including the East Midlands, East of England, South East, and London, as temperatures are expected to reach 35°C. The alerts are in effect from Monday until Wednesday morning, warning of potential strain on the National Health Service (NHS) and increased medical attention for vulnerable individuals. The Met Office forecasts that the South East could experience temperatures surpassing those of popular Greek holiday destinations. Yellow heat-health alerts are also in place for the North West, Yorkshire and The Humber, West Midlands, and South West. The heatwave is expected to peak on Monday, with temperatures slightly easing later in the week.
