New York and Paris Lead Global Tourism City Attractiveness Index
A new global ranking, the Global Tourism City Attractiveness Index for 2026, has placed New York and Paris at the top of the list for city attractiveness. The index, developed by Yanolja Research in collaboration with Purdue University and Kyung Hee University, evaluates cities based on 'cognitive awareness' and 'affective attractiveness.' These metrics assess how recognizable and memorable cities are, as well as their emotional impact on visitors. New York ranked first in both overall and awareness categories, while Paris followed closely. The study analyzed social media conversations in 14 languages to determine the rankings.
