Instagram Introduces New Controls for Limiting Data Usage in AI and Ads
Instagram, owned by Meta, has rolled out new controls allowing users to limit how their data is used for AI and personalized advertisements. This update includes a 'Activity from other businesses' control, which replaces older settings like 'Your activity off Meta technologies' and 'Activity information from ad partners.' This new control determines whether businesses can utilize information they send to Meta for personalizing ads, Feed content, and AI responses. Users can access this setting through their profile, navigating to the three-line menu, and then opening Accounts Center. While this setting helps prevent off-platform activity from informing ad personalization, it does not stop businesses from sending data or Meta from using activity generated within Instagram itself, such as interactions with posts, Reels, searches, or ad clicks.
