Fire Alert Lifted for 25 Counties in South Carolina, Caution Advised
The South Carolina Forestry Commission (SCFC) has lifted the Red Flag Fire Alert for 25 counties, which was initially issued statewide. Despite the removal of the alert for the eastern half of the state, conditions in the western regions remain volatile due to persistent dry and windy weather. Richland County and areas westward, including Barnwell County, continue to be under the alert. Forestry officials emphasize that while the alert is lifted in some areas, it is still not an ideal time for outdoor burning. Residents are advised to exercise caution and comply with state laws requiring notification to the Forestry Commission before burning outdoors.
