Senior Living Communities Prioritize Wellness, Face Perception Gaps and Measurement Challenges
The senior living industry is undergoing a significant shift, moving towards wellness-based communities that integrate care, according to a new report from the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA). This report, titled 'State of Wellness in Senior Living 2026,' indicates that wellness is no longer merely an amenity but a foundational element defining community identities and strategic priorities. A survey of 345 senior living professionals revealed that over half (52%) of communities are now wellness-lifestyle based with care options, a figure projected to reach 72% by 2030. Organizations are increasingly embedding wellness across all departments, with 63% reporting full integration into strategic plans and 78% ranking wellness lifestyles as a top leadership priority.
