Montana Launches FishCast to Monitor Drought and Trout Populations
A new online tool called FishCast has been launched in Montana to provide real-time drought forecasts and trout population predictions for the state’s rivers. This initiative, which began on June 1, is the result of a multi-agency collaboration aimed at supporting fisheries management and offering the public access to critical environmental data. The tool is designed to help stakeholders, including anglers, conservationists, and policymakers, make informed decisions about river ecosystems and trout habitats. By integrating drought forecasts with trout population data, FishCast aims to address the challenges posed by changing environmental conditions and ensure sustainable management of Montana's aquatic resources.
