CHPA Highlights Role of Self-Care Products on International Self-Care Day
The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) is emphasizing the importance of over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, dietary supplements, and medical devices in managing everyday health needs as part of International Self-Care Day. Celebrated annually on July 24, this global initiative underscores the significance of self-care in enhancing individual well-being and supporting public health systems. The date, 7/24, symbolizes the continuous nature of self-care, which is a commitment that can be maintained 24 hours a day, seven days a week. CHPA President and CEO Scott Melville stated that self-care is crucial for a healthier America, as millions of Americans rely on these products daily to manage their health effectively and safely. The association advocates for policies that increase the accessibility, affordability, and effectiveness of self-care products, which are estimated to save 1.3 billion hours and $31.8 billion in healthcare costs annually across North America.
