European Parliament Member Advocates for EU AI Rule Alternatives
Brando Benifei, a member of the European Parliament, has called for European alternatives to U.S. AI regulations. The EU has introduced a tech sovereignty package aimed at promoting European independence in technology. This package, if adopted, could allocate public funds to products that enhance European tech autonomy, reduce bureaucratic hurdles for data centers, and boost research and innovation. Benifei, who is a co-rapporteur on the AI Act, emphasizes the need for Europe to develop its own regulatory framework to ensure technological sovereignty.
