Los Angeles City Council Member Traci Park Leads Fundraising in Coastal Council Seat Race
Los Angeles City Council member Traci Park has raised over $1.2 million for her reelection campaign in the city's June 2 primary, significantly outpacing her challenger, civil rights attorney Faizah Malik, who has raised approximately $454,000. The District 11 seat, which includes areas such as Mar Vista, Pacific Palisades, Venice, and Westchester, is one of eight council seats on the ballot. The candidate who wins a majority in the election will secure the seat outright, otherwise, the top two vote-getters will compete in the November 3 general election. Park attributes her fundraising success to her efforts in addressing homelessness and clearing encampments, while Malik's campaign claims that corporate money cannot defeat their people-powered campaign.
