Freeport Hosts Electronics Recycling Event to Combat Illegal Dumping
Freeport is organizing an electronics recycling event on June 6 at the Stephenson County Fairgrounds. The event, which will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., is exclusively for Freeport residents who must present a Freeport ID to participate. Residents can drop off up to three items with monitors, such as TVs, laptops, and smartphones, while other electronics like keyboards and printers can be dropped off without limit. No appliances will be accepted. The event aims to prevent illegal dumping and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, potentially ending early if collection trailers fill up before the scheduled closing time.
