NYC Health Expands Mental Health Clubhouse Model with New Bronx Facility
NYC Health has expanded its mental health clubhouse model, culminating in the opening of the new Venture House Bronx facility in Fordham Heights. This expansion, the first in nearly three decades, was supported by a $30 million city and state investment, leading to the establishment of 13 high-capacity mental health clubhouses across the city by 2025. The Venture House Bronx, which held its ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 28, offers a commercial kitchen, dining space, art and media studios, and a wellness center. It serves over 200 members aged 18 and up with serious mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, major depression, and bipolar disorder. The clubhouse model focuses on fostering community, providing meaningful activities, and empowering members to achieve personal goals, addressing social challenges like loneliness and low self-esteem that medication alone cannot resolve. Other new Bronx clubhouses include Foundation House Bronx and Lantern House.
