Lake County Nonprofits Receive $5 Million Boost from Legacy Grant
The Legacy Foundation, a community foundation in Lake County, has announced a $5 million grant from the Lilly Endowment, marking the largest donation in its history. The grant will primarily fund a new initiative called 'Love Where You Live,' which aims to partner nonprofit organizations with local governments to create or revitalize public spaces across the county. The initiative will receive $4 million, while the remaining $1 million will support existing programs like Transform Lake County and Resilience, which address funding gaps for nonprofits. The foundation's president, Kelly Anoe, emphasized the importance of investing in public spaces to foster community connection and belonging.
