Slow-Moving Storms Could Bring Up to 7 Inches of Rain to NYC
Parts of New York City are bracing for significant rainfall as slow-moving storms are expected to bring between five and seven inches of rain from Tuesday night into Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for New York and parts of New Jersey, effective through 8 p.m. Wednesday. Meteorologist Bryan Ramsey warns that some areas could experience rainfall rates of two to three inches per hour, which could lead to potentially life-threatening flooding. Most of the city and surrounding areas are expected to receive at least three inches of rain, with isolated areas seeing higher totals where storms repeatedly pass. Additionally, there is a chance of strong thunderstorms with damaging winds reaching 60 to 70 mph.
