Delta Flight Crew and Passengers Assist in Mid-Air Birth on Portland-Bound Flight
A woman gave birth on Delta flight 478 en route from Atlanta to Portland, 30 minutes before landing. The unexpected event occurred on a five-hour flight when the passenger went into labor. Fortunately, a doctor and two nurses were on board and assisted in the delivery, along with the flight attendants. The team improvised with limited supplies, using items like shoestrings and passenger blankets to aid the delivery. The baby was born safely, and both mother and child were in stable condition upon landing, where they were met by emergency medical services.
