USDA Seeks Research Leader for Foreign Animal Disease Unit to Bolster U.S. Livestock Protection
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is actively recruiting a Research Leader for its Foreign Animal Disease Research Unit (FADRU). This position is critical for conducting both basic and applied research on high-consequence foreign diseases that could impact U.S. livestock. The Research Leader will be responsible for investigating diseases with significant socio-economic implications, which could enter the United States naturally, accidentally, or intentionally. The role involves providing leadership to the FADRU, coordinating with other scientists, the Area Office, the NBAF Center Director, and the Office of National Programs (ONP) to define research priorities under the Agricultural Research Service (ARS). Additionally, the individual will manage personnel and facility-related issues, including select agent inspections, and prepare annual reports for the Unit.
