Sanford's New Agricultural Marketplace Set to Boost Local Economy and Community Engagement
The Pilgrim's Sanford Agricultural Marketplace is set to open in downtown Sanford, North Carolina, marking a significant development for the local community. This new marketplace, located at 157 Charlotte Avenue, will feature a 12,000-square-foot facility that includes a covered pavilion for vendors, office space, meeting rooms, and a classroom kitchen. The marketplace aims to connect local farmers with the growing community, offering a space for 40 vendors to sell locally grown produce and other goods. The project is a collaboration between the city of Sanford and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, with significant funding from various sources, including a $505,000 grant from poultry producer Pilgrim's. The marketplace will open every Saturday from April to November, providing a venue for local farmers and artisans to showcase their products.
