New Orleans Implements AI in 911 Operations to Enhance Efficiency
New Orleans has introduced an AI triage tool to assist its 911 emergency services, managed by the Orleans Parish Communication District. This technology aims to streamline call handling by sorting and screening incoming calls, particularly repetitive ones, to prevent bottlenecks. Developed by Carbyne, the AI tool is part of a broader trend of integrating artificial intelligence into emergency services across the U.S. The tool has been in use for traffic-related emergencies since 2023 and complements a similar AI system for non-emergency 311 services.
