Big Rock Fire in Idaho Reaches 54% Containment as Crews Reinforce Fire Lines
Firefighters in Idaho have increased containment of the Big Rock Fire to 54%. The wildfire, caused by lightning on July 31, has burned 2,142 acres. Over 305 personnel are working to secure fire lines and eliminate hot spots. The fire remains within its perimeter, with crews focusing on the northern flank and state endowment lands. Despite diminished fire activity, significant heat persists, posing challenges as crews transition to mop-up operations. Efforts include removing hazardous trees and expanding defensible space around homes. No injuries or property losses have been reported.
