Capital Area United Way Receives Over $370,000 Endowment from Let Freedom Fly International Airshow
Jim Peitz, owner of Mustang Aviation in Pierre, South Dakota, and an acclaimed aviator, has donated over $370,000 from the proceeds of the 2024 Let Freedom Fly International Airshow to the Capital Area United Way. This donation establishes an endowment fund aimed at supporting local charities in the Pierre area. Peitz had envisioned and worked for over a year and a half to bring the airshow to fruition, overcoming initial delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent runway improvements. The airshow, which showcased numerous pilots and performers, was a significant event for the community. The Capital Area United Way recognized Peitz's generosity at a gathering at the St. Charles Lounge, where he was presented with a painting of his Beechcraft F33C by artist John Mollison. Becky Spoehr, executive director for the Capital Area United Way, highlighted the substantial impact of this endowment on local programs.
