Indiana Department of Environmental Management Offers Free Well Water Testing for 2026 Survey
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is initiating a program to offer free well water testing for private well owners as part of its Groundwater Monitoring Network for 2026. This initiative aims to collect data on groundwater quality across Indiana. The program is voluntary, and a limited number of participants will be selected to have their water tested between June and October 2026. IDEM Commissioner Clint Woods emphasized the importance of this program in providing homeowners with insights into their drinking water quality while contributing to a broader understanding of the state's groundwater conditions. The program encourages regular testing of private wells, which are not regulated by the department or the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
