Italy Cancels Kanye West and Travis Scott Concerts Over Security Concerns
Italy has canceled two concerts featuring U.S. rappers Kanye West and Travis Scott, which were scheduled to take place in July in Reggio Emilia. The decision was made by the local prefect, Salvatore Angieri, due to concerns about public order and security, including the potential for protests. The cancellation follows requests from consumer group CODACONS and the Jewish community in Modena and Reggio Emilia, who raised concerns particularly about West's history of antisemitic remarks. West, also known as Ye, has faced a series of concert cancellations across Europe this summer due to his controversial statements. Travis Scott has been under scrutiny for safety issues at his concerts since the 2021 Astroworld festival tragedy in Houston, which resulted in 10 deaths and hundreds of injuries. The concerts were part of the 'Pulse of Gaia Festival,' with Scott scheduled to perform on July 17 and West the following day.
