WJTV Ends CBS Affiliation, Switches to CW Network with Expanded Local Programming
WJTV, a television station in Jackson, Mississippi, is ending its long-standing affiliation with CBS and will become a CW Network affiliate starting August 1. This transition marks the end of a seven-decade relationship with CBS, which began in 1955. The change is part of a broader reshuffling by Nexstar Media Group, WJTV's owner, affecting several stations across the country. The station plans to enhance its local news and community-focused programming, alongside CW's entertainment lineup and live sports, including ACC football and basketball. WHLT will continue as the CBS affiliate for the Hattiesburg-Laurel market, while WAPT will carry CBS programming on a digital substation in Jackson.
