Researchers Achieve Quantum Entanglement Using Sunlight
Researchers have successfully generated quantum entanglement using sunlight, marking a significant advancement in quantum technology. The study, published in Optica, demonstrates that sunlight can be used to create entangled photons through a process known as spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC). This breakthrough suggests that natural light sources could be harnessed for quantum applications, potentially reducing the reliance on energy-intensive lasers. The research team, led by Cheng Li, utilized a new solar concentrator to focus sunlight onto a nonlinear crystal, achieving entanglement comparable to traditional laser-based methods.
